In the past, women\u2019s groups working in Myanmar had little opportunity to submit alternative reports to CEDAW; only the Women\u2019s League of Burma (WLB), which is based on border areas, was able to submit such reports.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In 2010, the political situation in Myanmar changed, allowing women\u2019s organizations both along the border and inside the country to work together more closely. In 2012, WON (representing 38 member organizations)1 and WLB (representing 13 member organizations) began to work together, conducting strategic planning workshops and identifying joint strategic activities based on challenges faced and lessons learned.
